In defeating addiction, the strongest weapon you will ever need to defeat it is God’s love. The reason why people find it hard to break their addicted lifestyle is because they do not lack understanding of the power and ability that resides inside them.
When people are addicted, a feeling of guilt comes over them and it gets difficult for them to have a blossoming relationship with God. The addicted believer would try all within his power to get on track with God, but the addiction problem keeps rearing its ugly head, threatening to remain forever.
The addicted believer would strive to ensure that no one in the church is aware of their addiction problem. This would prevent them from seeking help because of the stigmatization that comes with having an addicted lifestyle.
However, the church must be sensitive to all this, and from time to time, it is important to provide help to members who are lost in the web of addiction. And one of the greatest means of achieving this is to always remind them of God’s Love.
Quite a number of people have a flawed understanding of God’s Love and they are oblivious of the mighty wonders that God’s Love can induce. God’s Love is all-encompassing irrespective of if you are a believer or not.
God hates sin but he loves the sinner and he always anticipates that they would return to him before they are completely lost to sin. An addicted believer who is enlightened on the dimensions of God’s love will crave to draw closer to him.
God’s Love helps the addicted believer to fight off addiction to the point where it would seem as if the addiction problem was never there. Although, it is going to be a challenging struggle because the fight against addiction is a fight against the flesh.
However, the believer can only pull through when he relies on God’s word, and he continually trusts him for strength to carry on.
